St. Francis Episcopal Church
March 11, 2008
The March 11, 2008 Vestry Meeting was held at St.
Francis’ Parish Hall and called to order at 7:00pm with Fr. Kelsey Hogue
providing the opening prayer, and a reading from “Nagging Questions”.
Present were Sr. Warden Brad Bode, presiding, Terry
Haney, Greg Suhr, Darcy Haslam, Pati McLellan, Julie Fancer, Gina Shedd ,
guests: co-treasurers Don Kepler & Kathy Yates, Karen Anderson, Bob Manasek, Bob
Brown and Jane Sayre as secretary.
Absent: Sheryl Spath, Al Williams, Joyce Walsh, Don
Eigenberg.
Members reviewed and discussed the Vestry priorities for
2008, as presented in the 2008 Annual Meeting report. A master plan will be
developed in April, after the Vancouver Start Up Start Over conference.
Fr. Kelsey presented the details regarding the Idaho
election for Bishop, and asked for input from members.

Motion to accept minutes from the January 8, 2008 meeting
was made by Terry, seconded by Pati, and approved.
- Financial Report
was given by Kathy Yates, showing
little change other than the expense paid out for airfare and fees, for the
Vancouver conference. After discussion, and clarifications, motion to accept
the Treasurer’s Report was made by Gina, seconded by Greg, and approved.
- Memorial committee
report was submitted for perusal by
members, and will be discussed at the next meeting.
- Building and land
improvements were discussed, with
members expressing need to have a clean up day, as is lots of trash on the
vacant property, as well as the church grounds. Items covered were:
possibility of drilling a water well for the vacant lot(s), and utilizing the
land for a community garden, where we could grow ornamentals for the Nov. 5th
Annual Council. Greg, Terry, and Kathy volunteered to head up the project.
April 12th was elected as the date for the clean-up.
- Update on Cursillo
weekend April 17 – 20th,
in Halsey NE was given by Fr.Kelsey. He will be the head spiritual director
for the event, with the purpose to expand the leadership base of
congregations.
- Newsletter Editor and
Communications were discussed.
Gina will ask her daughter Sandy if she would be interested in helping with
the newsletter, write press releases, articles and other duties relevant to
communications. Rosemary Beck, and Rae Whitney are willing to help also.
- Vestry Meeting Dates
and Times were discussed, with Brad
deciding to leave as is for now, and review it again in the future.
- Transportation
for Charles Hart was also addressed, as he
does not have access to the handi-bus on Sundays, and would very much like to
attend Sunday services. Brad will check with Larry Kline to see if Bluffco
can be of help.
- Bob Brown
asked members for assistance in getting
articles and such for the Parish website.
- There will be one
service on Palm Sunday,
with a brunch following.
With no further business,
meeting was closed with Karen offering the closing prayer, at 9:20 pm.
